Kind Reminders from the Founder
Teacher Lin Tzu-Chen

For those who want to enhance spiritual wisdom, in addition to letting go of all attachments, they must also set a strict discipline to restrain their desires within boundaries. Self-control is most certainly a difficult skill that takes a lot of hard work to master. If you can volunteer with an open mind to learn and practise non-attachment, you will not be free from hindrances and be able to enjoy true freedom.

To make progress in this practice is not about practising the Qi in our body but learning to let go of our attachments for the limitless energy in us to be unleashed. To attain the ultimate power, one must learn to let go of all senses that come through the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and mind. Only by letting go of all these senses can one genuinely transcend and have more space to hold the energy of the universe because the energy of the universe is much more powerful than the Qi of human beings. Therefore, practitioners who have completed the intermediate course can provide adjustment to any person, even those who have completed the advanced class.

Only by keeping the mind calm and simple can we improve our skills. Without a selfless and non-attachment mindset, one may fall victim to their unrealistic desires to pursue stronger skills or others’ recognition, which could eventually cause them to lose themselves.

To progress in this practice, one must learn to drop all burdens. It would be a complete waste of time if one merely practices the physical body but not their mind, as they only pick up even more burdens. For one to drop all weights, one must learn to give their love and compassion. Volunteers should learn to face everything with humility and always be mindful of their thoughts. Practise with a mindset that is free from greed, reward or fame-seeking. Learn to drop all burdens by always observing one’s thoughts and constant reflection.

Longevitology as an Energy Therapy

Longevitology believes that the universe is a gigantic magnetic field that encompasses limitless energy, whereas the human body is a small magnetic field. A healthy person’s magnetic field should flow smoothly. When disruption happens to the magnetic field for any reason (be it physically, mentally or spiritually), the person would be unwell. Longevitology practitioners act like conductors that can convey the universe's energy to adjust the magnetic field of an ill person, helping the magnetic field to flow correctly, which in turn helps the person to be well again. It is through opening the main chakras of the human body combined with kindness and compassion, can one obtain the abilities to absorb and pass on the universe energy.

The concept of healing in Longevitology is similar to the principle in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM believes that one must first improve the Qi to heal the blood – “aid the discernible blood with the indiscernible Qi”. It is also comparable to the principle of acupuncture and most “Qigong” practices.

Religious people hope that everyone is kind and will spread compassion to the entire universe so that all sentient beings can receive blessings, feel infinite happiness and be free from all sadness and anxiety. In their words, they call it "treat illnesses with the heart", and they believe that the energy of the heart is highly sensitive. If the mind is maintained at a high level, the body will react and change accordingly. If a person can practice an "altruistic heart" always, this person will be a happy person with boundless blessings. Such a person will be able to possess powerful energy and be able to help oneself as well as bring happiness to others. Such belief is also the foundation of the Longevitology practice. There are many other practices similar to Longevitology, for example, “Human Energy”, “Universe Energy”, “Universe Human Energy”, “Longevity Human Energy”, “Longevity Charitable Organisation” etc. Some even bear the same Chinese name, “Chang Sheng Xue”, which translates to “The Study of Longevity”. These practices are running their fee-charging courses everywhere, and they have absolutely no connection with Longevitology. In the Longevitology teaching structure, we do not collect fees or costs in any form. Every person has the right to his or her very own methods of life and dreams, and there is nothing wrong about paying some fees to gain the knowledge sought. Whoever you learn the technique from depends entirely on your causes and conditions and your blessings. No matter where or whom you learn the method from, be sure to make good use of it.

The contents of Longevitology courses significantly differ from others, especially the core teachings. The most significant difference in the practice of Longevitology is that when one helps another person to adjust on their energy, one need not focus on anything or to guide the energy. The practitioners just need to empty their minds and play the role of a good conductor. To be a good conductor, one needs to be free from wandering thoughts. Using our compassion, kindness, love and selflessness, we transform the virtue we possess to become a free-flowing channel for the universe's energy. When one possesses selflessness and the mindset of not expecting any rewards, one will then receive unbelievable results. When we adjust the energy of ourselves and others, we do not use our conscious minds to focus on anything or anyone. We need to remember that the mere focus of our mind itself is a thought, an obstacle that may hinder the flow of energy. We also need to avoid focusing our minds on our hands or the person we are helping. In most Qigong practices, the Qi is guided by one’s mind. However, in doing so, we could easily pass our essence, Qi and spirit onto others, causing harm to ourselves. Moreover, this could lead to the backflow of negative Qi from the person we are helping. Therefore, practitioners of some other practices have to limit the time they can help others, to control the possible adverse effects they could cause to themselves.

Some may ask whether providing adjustments to others could cause problems in one’s karma. In the teachings of Longevitology, not that we are not afraid of karma, but rather, we are not obsessed with the idea. One must have the correct mindset that when we are helping ourselves or others, it is the universe's energy that is helping, not our energy. Those with sufficient blessings will naturally benefit from the energy from the universe, not from us. If one believes that, “I am helping this person, I should take credit.” Then this person may need to bear the karma of the other person.

Furthermore, this method that we learn from Longevitology tells us to empty our minds, allowing the universe's energy to be conducted naturally without the guidance of our thoughts. These two methods produce different effects and meanings. When we think about the famous Buddhist quote: “A bodhi mind holds no tree, a clear reflector is never a stand; When not a thing ever really mattered, where could dust have gathered?” If we look at the sentient beings from the aspect of karma, everyone carries some form of karma. From birth to death, human beings live in the loop of creating the cause of karma and living its effects. Wise people would always hold kindness in their hearts and eliminate the negative karma through their good deeds. In contrast, unwise people would do all it takes to avoid negative karma, which, in the end, merely prolongs the suffering. Such an act is no different from not paying one’s debts but borrowing even more. Just think about it, does that cause the debt to be even more burdensome? We must accept that we need to give and take in life; only by offering more will we receive more in return. Our mindset plays the most crucial role in determining this.

Once you have completed the Longevitology course, be confident that you will be able to help others. Do not hold the false belief that you must achieve very high levels before assisting others, as we learn and master these skills and techniques through practice. Merely thinking about a skill without practising, one will never truly achieve any progression. Do not plan to help the poor only when you are very wealthy, or to liberate sentient beings only after you have achieved Buddahood. We all know that great teachers like the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and other saints were all born as ordinary humans who developed via various challenges and sacrifices to attain enlightenment or ultimate wisdom. There is a famous saying by the enlightened one that, “Buddha is an enlightened being, while all beings are Buddhas who have yet to achieve enlightenment.” Therefore, we should not waste the opportunities that we have in control now to hope for an uncontrollable future. Imagine if everyone in our time held such a useless and unrealistic mindset; what would happen to the next generation?

Healing with bare hands is a practice that has been around for a very long time. From the bible, we know that Jesus used his hands to heal many people who suffered from all sort of illnesses. When praised and given respect by others, He said, “All these come from the Lord, I am but a channel of communication.” The technique that is taught by Teacher Lin Tzu-Chen is nothing more than how to play our roles as communication channels properly. When we can help others, we should refrain from being too attached to its powers. The Buddha once said, “All kinds of supernatural powers are insignificant, only the void is the way.” For Longevitology practitioners, this is the best guidance we should all follow. When we help others, we need to be mindful that we are not attached to any desires or wandering thoughts. When we see the benefits of healing, we need to be modest and compassionate and not claim credit as it is the result of the person’s blessings. This is the path that all Longevitology practitioners should follow, and this is the only way.

Longevitology is growing steadily, for us to make progress and to elevate our physical, mental and spiritual self, all practitioners should always hold on to our concept of compassion, kindness and selflessness as our way to serve our societies. Its mission, concept and objectives are a good practice for all to follow, a rare gem in this modern world.
